Bob Books Happy Hats My First Reading Game

Play and read with Sam, Mat, Dot, and Mit in this board game made just for beginning readers. Children explore letter names and letter sounds as they create simple words to help pave the path to reading success. Along the way, children collect "Happy Hats" for every word they create.

Each person chooses one of the friendly Bob Books characters as their moving piece. Spin the spinner to see how many spaces to move around the edge of the game board. On each space, there is a blackline drawing of something that begins with that letter, along with the printed word. Children choose from their hand of word-ending cards (40 in the game) to either form a word beginning with that letter or match the letter (if it's a vowel). If they can form a word or match the vowel, they get to take a hat token. The player with the most hats at the end of the game wins. Learning to read just became a whole lot more fun!
